A twinkle in the eye.

What can be more delightful than cycling to the beach in the summer and enjoying a picnic watching all the children playing in the sand, and splashing in the water? Or watching toddlers splashing in puddles, or running through piles of leaves?

What makes couples decide that they would like to become a family? Are toddlers designed in such a way to enchant women? You know the age. The age when little girls are made of sugar and spice and all things nice, and little boys are are made of slugs and snails and puppy dogs’ tails . Perhaps it is seeing the joy and happiness that radiates from mummies and daddies as they cuddle and laugh and make sand castles with their children.

Or is it babies, brand new and so irresistible with their soft skin, new eyes and baby breath smell ?

When my blondie baby girl was just a few days old, a friend came to visit. We were encamped in the bedroom, and we were just letting these early days gently unfold. Time to get to know each other. Time to be still and time to breathe each other in. My friend picked up my beautiful bundle, and as she cradled her, tears filled her eyes. It was no surprise that soon afterwards she discovered that she was having a baby. When her little baby was a toddler, she brought him to my little blondie girl’s birthday party. When his mother’s back was turned for all of five seconds, we found him drinking water out of the guinea pigs’ water dispenser. Priceless.
